HPV? Why is it only a woman's problem?? I really need some answers to this o!

Question: HPV!? Why is it only a woman's problem!?!? I really need some answers to this one!.!.!.!.!?
In a time like today, with the growing awareness of HPV and its consequences, it seems that the only solution (like usual) is to create more and more drugs for us women to take (ex Gardasil, etc!.)!.

Now, my understanding of the HPV is that it is a virus that many women will come into contact with and clear naturally, but some will unfortunately have it develop into cervical cancer if not caught early!. Am I correct so far!? Alright!.

My understanding is that a woman can only get HPV if she has sexual contact with a man who has previously slept with another infected female, passing the virus on to the new woman = = = = = = MEN ARE THE CARRIERS!

I asked someone the other day and they told me there is no such HPV test for men!. So my QUESTION is whether not this is true, and if so, why the hell not!? Instead of fabricating all this DOPE for US to take, why don't they find a way to trace the virus in the carriers, i!.e!. men!.!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree with you on the over-hype and eagerness to push vaccines and medication on the public, too often, poorly tested, dangerous ones!. The Guardasil vaccine has caused some deaths, probably to girls who never would have gotten cervical cancer, a highly curable form of cancer by the way!.

HPV can give men anal, throat, and penile cancer!. Those instances are rare though!. There is no screening for HPV in men!. Anal PAP tests can be given to men who have anal sex!. Those tests can help screen for anal cancer!. Actually, the HPV screenings for women only detect a fraction of the HPV strains out there, the ones that can be found directly on the cervix!.

I have included a link to the Centers for Disease Control webpage on HPV and men for info!. Not sure why, but it doesn't mention throat cancer (from oral sex with other men mostly)!. The pharmaceutical industry is hard at work on showing why Guardasil is needed for boys/men too!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Correct, there is no FDA approved test for men unless they have visible symptoms (aka genital warts)!. However, HPV is not just a problem for women!. 1 in 2 adults have some form of HPV!. The high risk strains can lead to cervical Cancer!. However, men also have a chance of getting oral or penile Cancer although it is not nearly as prevalent as cervical Cancer!.

The Gardisil vaccine targets women because our chances of HPV complications are higher (because of cervical Cancer)!. Both men and women can be HPV carriers!. Although the virus can be fought off by your immune system, that doesn't mean that you are completely cured of HPV nor that you won't be able to transmit it to someone else!. It just means that your immune system is strong enough to fight off the symptoms of HPV and that they virus may still be present in your body!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They are!. Many companies are now studying the HVP vaccine on men because HPV is also know to cause both oral cancer and penile cancer in men!. Both men and women need to work together to stop of transmission of the HPV, which is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Prevention is obviously the best way of controlling the disease!. (Which is the idea behind the vaccine, but I also see your point in preventing the need for such a precaution)

Unfortunately, testing isn't a panacea!. Yes, an HPV test for men is absolutely necessary, and I'm glad they're working on it, but they have both male and female tests for HIV, and without a vaccine people are still dying!. It's a lot harder to get all men to test for a virus that doesn't really affect them than it is to get women to take a vaccine for a disease that can give them cancer!. Let's be honest, we can't force men to take an invasive test any more than we can force women to take the vaccine!.

Also, vaccines can't be too bad if they prevent our kids from getting mumps, rubella, measles, and polio!. Luckily *most* people are vaccinated against these things, so that even the few who play with fire can't catch them either!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You are correct that there is no FDA-approved HPV test for men!. That's mainly because a good, reliable way to collect a sample of male genital skin cells that would allow detection of HPV has yet to be discovered!. (For a host of medical reasons, the female cervix is much more vulnerable to HPV and easier to examine than male penile or anal skin!.) So unfortunately, the only way for you to protect yourself -- other than to swear off all intimate sexual relationships -- is to get tested yourself for HPV (recommended for all women over the age of 30) along with your Pap!. If testing shows you have a persistent infection, you should be sure to get a colposcopy exam to find any abnormal cells and remove them before they become cancerous!.

Also remember: HPV is extremely common!. It's estimated that 80 percent of adults will get the virus at some point in their lives before the age of 50!. So, it's almost as ubiquitous as the common cold, and there is no reason to place blame!. Luckily, in the vast majority of cases, the virus doesn't cause any problems!.
