Question: Problem with nose bleeds!?
I've had difficulty with nose bleeds for as long as I can remember!. Over the past few years I've only had them in my right nostril!. This can a huge distraction especially if I need to be somewhere or if it happens at work!. It's also very embarrassing because at times it takes a few minutes to stop the bleeding!. Sometimes I will go a few weeks without getting one then all of a sudden I'll get one!. Sometimes it happens while sleeping!. I'm a young man and within my normal body weight!. My blood pressure is fairly normal!. I live in the Midwest so usually there is plenty of humidity in the air!. A couple years ago I went to the ER because of a severe nose bleed and the doctor mentioned that I have thin membranes in my nose which are conducive to nose bleeds!. Does anyone think that nose bleeds may be an indicator of some other health problem!? I'm going to set up an appointment to get this checked out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Dry air can cause this!. Maybe use humidifier or put Vaseline in nose!. If you don't bleed for a week the membranes will heal completely but if not you will just be opening the same wound over and over again until you get a bad one!. This happened to me one year!. If you have high blood pressure than nose bleeds are bad!. Ask your doctor if you suspect another health problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
You should have a good ENT exam to be sure there is no local pathology causing the bleeding such as growths or ulcerations!. You should also have your doctor do a clotting profile!. If a single bleeding point or small problem vessel can be identified possibly cautery may help prevent further attacks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are several medical conditions which can cause this!. Too often doctors are quick to say dry membranes, thin membranes etc!. This I know first hand!. Myself and two of my three daughters have a blood disorder called von Willebrand Disease!. This means there is not enough von Willebrands in our system, in other words "glue"!. It is the same Factor as hemophilia, which is factor VIII!. My oldest daughter has Ideo pathic thrombocytopenia or ITP in her case the spleen does not allow her platelets to mature, they die off resulting in a low platelet count which leads to blood not clotting!. This is just two possible causes!. You need to see a hematologist not general practitioner!. Hope this helped!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
