OK, so, why DO I need a new flu shot every year? I don't need a new polio sh!

Question: OK, so, why DO I need a new flu shot every year!? I don't need a new polio shot, do I!?
So, why is it that the bugs that cause the flu, or pneumonia evolve, but the critters that caused polio don't!?
Why is it that certain "childhood diseases" such as measles, mumps, chicken pox, etc, produce an immunity in the patient, at least most of the time!?
Evidently, though, not every kid who gets these diseases does become immune!. My daughter-in-law had chicken pox three different times as a kid!. So, did her bugs evolve!? Why didn't her brother's bugs!?!?

I do intend to post this in one of the science sections, but I posted it here first because we have so many experts on evolution that hang out here!. I am hoping that one of you will have a real answer!.
If not, maybe you can direct me to the proper science section!?!?

Please keep your answers polite!. Not everyone thinks the way you do, and that's fine!. There is no need to leave your good manners behind when you get on the internet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
The manufactures of the Flu vaccine like to make lots of money by selling the shots!. why do you think they are $billion dollar companies !?
There are different strains each year and the flu shots given are usually a year behind and do work on the current years strain!. I speak the truth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The new flu shot is not for the same flu each year!. It is for this years flu as determined early by that years viruses in China (usually)!. New viruses usually start in China!. The flu shot is for a new type of virus each year!.
Poliovirus is a known entity; a positive stranded RNA virus!. Once you have finished a course of vaccines for Polio you are protected and do not need another!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need a flu shot every year!. Each year people from the World Health Organization and other surveillance centres get together to look at the strains of flu that have been circulating throughout the world!. They then decide on the most popular and pathogenic strains and then get the companies to add the chosen 2-3 Flu A strains and 1 Flu B strain!. To the current years flu vaccine!. Influenza virus' have what is called an antigenic shift, ie they mutate slightly each year which is why you need a flu jab each year!.
Measles, chicken pox, polio do not however change their molecular composition so much so therefore a person has a lifetime immunity!.
However with chicken a very small percentage of people can get it again, no one knows why this occurs or who it will occur in!. Sometimes people may think that they have chicken pox again but it more likely to be a different virusWww@Answer-Health@Com

Well the polio virus is just caused by one type of virus, but the flu is caused by a couple different viruses!. Another reason I think it is for this is because viruses have an outer coat that depending on how they enter and/or leave your cell, they may or may not leave behind!. Some viruses just squirt their DNA inside the cell, some enter the cell and leave by causing the cell to burst (both don't leave behind a coat), and some leave by budding off of the cell (leaving a coat)!. When they leave this coat, your immune system picks up the "evidence" and can later recognize it and fight it off the next time it tries to invade!. The viruses you mentioned may leave this coat behind, while the flu virus does!. and all viruses change over time to protect them selves, they learn a new way of doing things, which can further trick the immune system!.

As for your daughter-in-law, its not that she had a different bg, its just how her immune system works!. She may have a lower immune system, or her immune system could have been overwhelmed possibly fighting another infection at the same time, or immune system could just have not recognized it for some reason!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

So there are like 5 billion strains of the flu!. We get vaccinated against 3 strains that the scientist believe will be the three big ones of that "flu season" Now unlike polio and chicken pox (that only has one form of the virus) there are many different animals with their own strain, that occasionally mix with ours creating even more!. So it would be hard to make a vaccine (kind of like why it's hard to make an AIDs vaccine)!. Here's a better explanation of the flu virus:
http://www!.cdc!.gov/flu/about/viruses/cha!.!.!.
Then the flu vaccine unlike chicken pox and polio only last a year!. The immunity that it produces only last a year!.
There's bigger more scientific words- chicken pox vaccine creates a cellular immunity where the T-cells "remember" the virus and can react right away!. This last for most of your life (when it doesn't look up shingles!.) As for your D-in-law, she proboly didn't form a good enough cellular immunity and got re-infected!.
The flu vaccine is an active immunity were your body have artificial antibodies against the flu virus, but they only last a year or so!. The T-cells never remember!. How they make them makes the different kind of immunities and they haven't been able to make one where our bodies make a cellular response!.

Firstly you don't need a polio shot because the dead polio virus was part of the shot if you got the IPV, the OPV carried a small amount of the live virus (which could have caused polio or could have helped you become immune to it!. There are 3 main strains of polio that are covered here and the do not seem to evolve!.

I have posted three sites for you to study below!. First about the recommended polio vaccine and some information on it!.

Next is "Why" the CDC and such is recommending Flu shots!. and last why some feel we do not need them!. It is my understanding that as one article states the shots are based on the three latest viruses that people got the last year!. Thus if you pick up a new virus the shot was no good!. There are many strains of flu, just like the cold this is not a medical issue we have yet concured!. So I have to agree with the NO flu shot as I do not want them injecting me with extra virus' my body might not fight off as I have a poor immune system!. I prefer to use the vitamins, herbs and minerals our bodies need to strengthen our immune systems to make them stronger and work better!.

As our world has grown with air flight and travel ease, I think so has the virus population that may not have been in one area or country!. Do they evolve!? I don't know, but we seem to have new ones almost every year!. I will take a pneumonia shot as it is directed at one specific germ or virus and I am prone to pneumonia!. It seems that a one time shot will not work with pneumonia as it did with polio!.

I had polio as a child prior to the discovery of polio vaccine!. As you will read the U!.S!. outlawed the OPV, or live vaccine, and we have had very few outbreaks (that they don't like to tell the public about) in the U!.S!. One was in a Quaker village where they would not take the vaccine and another was where one child was given the live vaccine and infected another child!.
The reason they cannot completely wipe out polio in the third world countries is the still use OPV "live vaccine" and the children still can get polio and take it to other children!. They do this because of the large difference in cost of the vaccines!.

You should learn a lot reading the articles below!. Sorry if there are spelling errors but the Yahoo spell check would not work!.

Hope this helps!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
