Does Cryotherapy really shorten the cervix and what does that mean and how would that affect our baby plans!? I recently had a pap smear which returned abnormal cells (pre cancerous) and will be having a colscopy next wk and maybe a biopsy and if needed maybe cryotherapy too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Because your pap smear revealed precancerous cells, the likely hood of you developing cancer of the cervix is only about 10-20%!. Cancer of the cervix is a slow progressing disease so that effectively removing the diseased tissue is likely before it turns in to cancer!. Have a talk with your gynecologist about your concerns and your desire to have children!. He/she will be able to give you a definitive answer!. The source below may help!. I had cryotherapy a few years ago, but I'm done having children, so I don't know the effects of that, but!.!.!.I was given the choice of just "waiting" it out or having the cryotherapy!. I panicked and had it done!. I would talk more with your dr!. You'll probably have to wait to see what the biopsy comes back as, but I've talked to other women how've had abnormal paps and their drs have just watched it by doing paps more often!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
