Does Accutane/Roaccutane only work for oily skin?!
Question: Does Accutane/Roaccutane only work for oily skin!?
I've had acne for about 5 years, varying from mild to severe over the years!. My skin has never been oily - more on the dry/sensitive side!.
I was on Accutane for about 6 months but it didn't seem to do much for me!. While I was on it, the only side effect was dry lips!. Which I thought was strange!. I was prepared for the worst because my skin was already quite dry!. My last trip to the dermatologist, my skin was looking good so he decided to take me off the Accutane!.
At the time I was living down the coast learning to surf and was at the beach every day - so I'm thinking the salt water is probably what cleared my skin up!. But now I'm back in the city studying, off the Accutane and my acne has returned!. :(
So it seems Accutane didn't work for me!. Is it possible it just doesn't work for some people!? Does it only clear up acne for people with oily skin!? I was always told Accutane is a last resort for people with acne, but I've been there and done that with no results!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it should work even if your skin is dry, you may need a second course of it though, some people need to take it twice!.
did you always take it with food!? because that is very important so it is absorbed properly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Are you sure it didn't do anything - you said the doctor took you off it because your skin was very clear!.
Why do you attribute the salt water to clearing the acne but not the accutane!? I would be more likely to assume that the accutane cleared it out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have had severe acne for the last 6 years(i'm 20)!. i have had accutane for the last 8 month(i'll be done in couple of days)!. before that i used to swim 4 hours a day and my acne was gone, but then in came back!. accutane i just got the dry lips too, however i still get regular break outs but they cure much much faster, which leads me to believe that accuatance for the guys in prolonged acne problems is not a "permanent" solution
I think after two month my acne will comeback, which i will have to wait another six month to get back on accutane
