it can trigger an outbreak if u already have herpes, not cause one when u have herpes already!. there are only 2 common types that i know of and u can get both types on your genitals, sometimes sex can trigger outbreaks!.

If they have the same type as you, YES you can have sex with them and it will NOT cause an outbreak!. It does not have an effect - that is a myth!.
What can cause an outbreak is trauma/friction, which is why some people find they experience outbreaks after sex!.
But a partner having herpes will not trigger an outbreak in you - after all, like yours, their infection is dormant for the vast majority of the time!.
The ONLY thing that triggers an infection in you is something that affects you such as being run down, having a cold or the flu, friction etc!.
And you do not need to use protection if you both have the same type of herpes and are happy wwith that - you won't catch the same type again!. I and my partner both have hsv-1 - me genital, he oral, and have accidentally had sex during one of my outbreaks or kissed when he has an open cold sore with no ill effects!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've done this!.!.!. dated a man who also had genital herpes!.
We also mistakenly thought it was ok to have sex during an outbreak because we both already had it!
It caused us to STAY broken out with herpes outbreaks more often than before we were dating AND
