Question: My 2 year old's fever will not go down after I give him ibuprofen!.!?
Last night I gave him ibuprofen at 8pm and his temp!. at 9:30pm was 101!.7 under the arm!. It took until 11pm for it to go down enough where he wasn't burning up!. Is there anything else I can do for him!? He acts fine!.!.!.he's drinking fluids!.!.!.but I'm worried that the temp!. could get too high!. I know you guys aren't doctors, but most of you have had kids and know this stuff!. When should I take him to the doctors!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

What we do is give first the paracetamol/acetaminophen (every 4hours)!. One hour after giving paracetamol and the temperature is still at 101!.3 or higher, backup with ibuprofen!. Be sure also that you're giving the right dose for the medicines!. Paracetamol is given at 10mg/kg/dose while ibuprofen is at 5mg/kg/dose!.
A simple fever may take 3 days!. If your kid still has fever after 3 days, bring him to a doctor!.

You are a great mom! My son had the same problem when he was little and the doctor told us to also give Acetaminophen with Ibuprofen!. You give one every 4 hours and the other every 6 hours, together they brought the fever down but neither would do it alone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
in addition to the Ibuprofen, put him in a tepid bath that should bring the temp down!. But frankly 101!.7 in a child is not all that high!. Take him to a doctor if it goes over 103Www@Answer-Health@Com
