Answers:
You can function without your ACL your knees!. Both of my knees are without ACL from past sports injury!. The ACL is used to stabilize your knee during sharp turns and pivots that are necessary in sports such as snow skiing, water skiing, basketball, volleyball, etc!. You can use an athletic knee brace when doing those activities, which sorta "replaces" the action of the ACL!.

Most people who rupture or tear a ligament inside their knee can recall the exact moment at which they felt it pop!. The four "classic" symptoms that people may experience when they have an ACL injury are:

You heard a "pop" from inside your knee
You felt your knee give away at the time of injury
Your knee swollen immediately, or within a few hours after the injury
The knee pain so bad that you have to stop what you are doing that day!.

If it is an old injury and the ACL has deteriorated (is no longer there) you probably feel that your knees are just not as strong as they used to be--especially when pivoting or sharp turning!. The knee just feels like it could give way so you tend to avoid those movements!.

Arthroscopic surgery is usually done to determine the extent of the damage to the knee and to repair as much as possible!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
