Question: What are night terrors!? What causes them!?
Answers:
It is a sleep disorder, which commonly occurs in pediatrics patient between 3 - 12 years, and usually about 90 minutes of after falling asleep!. It is a recurrent episodes of intense crying and fear and often difficult to wake the child, who often wakes up screaming in fear for about one to two minutes, with heart racing (tachycardia), tachypnea (increase respiratory rate), sweating!.

The child is often inconsolable for about thirty minutes afterward before returning to sleep, and may appear awake but confused, disoriented, and unresponsive afterward; and usually do not recall the episode the next morning!.

Night terror may cause significant distress, fatigue, and impaired daily function of the patient, and generally resolves spontaneously during adolescence!.

Up to 6% of children experience this sleep disorder!.

Night terrors may be preceded by stressful life events, fever, sleep deprivation, medications that affect the central nervous system!.

Medication are rarely indicated and provides very little long term benefits!. The family often receive only reassurance from medical professional!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
