Hmm !.!.!. 400 sounds a little low for a type 1!. Maybe he's still on his honeymood period!. If you aren't familiar with that term, I'll explain!.

When a type 1 diabetic is diagnosed, and they are put on insulin, many times their pancreas will be fooled into thinking it's still working!. Which means it will start producing insulin again for a short period of time until it quits for good!. This is called the honeymood period!. It's different for everyone !.!.!. it doesn't always happen right after starting insulin, and lasts different amounts of time for different people!. My 2 year old daughter is at type 1, diagnosed almost 6 months ago now !.!.!. and she hasn't had one yet!. And some people never get one at all!.

But back to your husband!. Actually, for the purposes of your quesition it doesn't matter if he's a type 1 or a type 2!. Blood sugar levels above 240 can cause your body to release ketones, which can lead to ketoacidosis!. Having ketoacidosis is like being poisoned, it can kill quickly!. And if he has blood sugar levels of 400 every day, he has to be spilling ketones!. It's just a matter of time!.

Of course, he's an adult !.!.!. you can't force him to take care of himself!. At least what you can do, is keep an eye on him for the signs of it getting serious!. If he starts to have nausea, vomiting, a hard time breathing, fruity odor on his breath !.!.!. those are some of the signs of ketoacidosis, which means you need to take him to the hospital, quickly!.

Take care !.!.!. and please feel free to email me if you need anything :o)Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's common for diabetics to rebel at the idea of being placed permanently in the "sick" role, if a little juvenile!. It sounds like he's a type II diabetic, so the risk of coma is very small, and most of the other risks are somewhat distant, so it may be best for you to lay off for a while (he sees this as nagging, I bet) and hope he'll get through this phase in a few months!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like a type two to me also!. Get him to read this:

And tell him Mr!. Peachy said that it's not that difficult, once you make up your mind!. I thrive on this health stuff!. I quit all medication last December!. If he's type two, he can too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your husband sounds as if he is tired of the routine!. It is difficult for most people to stay on track 100% of the time every single day of their lives!. He may be depressed, resentful, angry or just plain tired!. There really is no vacation from the constant doubt and anxiety that can come with any chronic illness!. If your husband does not start taking his shots soon, he will get very ill - if has not already!. He will become very lethargic, have headaches, vomiting, very thirsty and frequent urination!. Maybe that will be enough to scare him back into his medication!. Sadly, when that happens that means his body is toxic and he could fall into a coma!. Keep insulin on hand, know how to give him a shot in case that happens!. You can administer insulin after calling for emergency services!. (Be sure he has passed out due to high blood sugar and not low!) Perhaps look into an insulin pump it made it easier for me to take all my appropriate insulin as opposed to multiple injections per day!.
As far as whether he is Type 1 or Type 2!.!.!. I do not think it matters if he is Type 1 or Type 2 at this point!. His blood sugar is too high and he will get sick and could fall into a coma if this continues!. Some Type 1's can last for a very long time on very little insulin, they are sick and dangerously close to death but they can last (I know from first hand experience)!. Another option is an in-patient diabetes clinic!. There he can get re-charged, learn some coping skills, about new developments and technologies that can help it seem like less of a chore, and meet people who face the same burdens he does every day!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A bullet to the head is more humane!. Whose going to take care of him when he gets a stroke , or goes blind, or has his legs amputated!. This guy is a loser and you need to separate yourself from his suicidal plans!.Don't feel sorry for him, compassion is in order , but it does not need to pull you down!.With this disease I have thought many times that I wanted to die!. Only thing is my death does not affect anyone!. I am alone!.But I keep plug gin' on!. I am not really a quitter!. And I don't seek pity!. Because people do not understand Diabetes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
