It doesn't take a particular amount of time!. Some people will get cancer within years of starting, others will never get it after chewing their whole life!. A thing to consider though is that chewing increases your risk for certain cancers by several hundred times, compared to non-tobacco users or cigarette smokers!. The types of cancers you are at an increased risk for are those of the jaw, tongue, esophagus, and pancreas!. I would suggest quitting as soon as possible!. I have seen the rammifications of chewing tobacco!. Many people have to get their entire jaw removed, they can no longer breathe normally and have to get a tube in their neck (called a trache) to breathe through!. They can't eat normally anyway and have to have a tube put in their stomach where they have to feed themselves liquid foods!. It is also very painful!. I would really suggest you try to quit!. Here is some info on how to quit: http://www!.cancer!.org/docroot/PED/conten!.!.!.
Check out this baseball player who now goes around and speaks about the dangers of dipping because he lost half his face due to cancer at a fairly young age due to chewing tobacco: http://deseretnews!.com/article/1,5143,63!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is a great question, I am currently in dental hygiene school and just learned about this topic!. We were told that anyone poses a risk to oral cancer that uses tobacco, and sadly once you are diagnosed with cancer you have approx 50% chance of making it!. We were also told that a young boy in high school started chewing at the age of twelve, great athlete and track star, died by the age of 19!. Your state health dept should have cessation programs at little or no cost to you, look into those!. Also, do your own oral exams at home daily or weekly---check your mouth with a mirror everyday!. Anything abnormal that you notice should be looked at by your dentist ---and good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

because you chew tobacco or smoke does not mean you will get cancer!. it is said to increase your chances of cancer but resent studies are starting to conflict!.

The best solution is to change the location in your mouth to protect your gums!.

or better yet just quit because it is not cool!.

here are some actual stats on smoking -
Would you believe that the real number is < 10% a US white male (USWM) cigarette smoker has an 8% lifetime chance of dying from lung cancer but the USWM nonsmoker also has a 1% chance of dying from lung cancerWww@Answer-Health@Com

There is no set amount of time!.!.!.you may have the beginnings of it now or not!. Because everyone's genetic make up is different, the time it takes will be different in everyone!. Some people won't get it at all, but the likelihood is most people who chew tobacco will!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

really, everyone is different in this case!. i think the best bet, if you are willing to quit, would be to wean yourself off of the tobacco!. at least that way you lower the risk of contracting cancer!. tobacco is a hard thing to stop doing, so if you are able to, you should! you shouldn't wait to take the chance and find out how long it takes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Nobody can foretell the future of when!. The best thing to do is quit!. Cancer is ugly and chemo is no picnic, but if you want to to experience cancer and chemo first hand, continue chewing on that tobacco!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My son got lip cancer from keeping snuff in his bottom lip!. This was when he was in high school and a football Jock!. So it must have happened within a couple of years!. He actually had a spot on his lip and his tongue!.

You can get cancer for chewing only once!. The chance is very small but it could happen!.
The longer you use tobacco the greater the chance of you getting cancer!.
Please stop now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its more of an odds kind of thing!.

The longer you've been doing it, the better the odds are of getting it!.

You could have already gotten it, you may never get it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you know, there is no hard or fast rule!. Some people never get it; some people get it after just a few years!. it is individual!. My suggestion is to try to stop (plus girls find it gross)Www@Answer-Health@Com
