Medical question regarding muscle twitching in the face!?!?!?!

Question: Medical question regarding muscle twitching in the face!!?!!?!!?
My brother who is 14 years old has this twitching in the face that occurs almost constantly!. I believe it's been happening for a few years and it started with this eyes!. He would blink his eyes numerous times really fast and then it progressed to his mouth and nose area!. It's really weird and I'm just worried that there could be something dangerous behind this twitching!.

I've already advised my dad to take him to the Dr!. to have him seen for this, but anybody here with a medical background who has advice or info on what this could be!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is called a facial tic!. It commonly happens temporarily to many people in their teens, but it can also be a symptom of Tourette's syndrome since it seems to be progressive!. It would be a good idea to take him to a doctor if the tics bother him or affect his social life, otherwise there's no medical concern!. There isn't any "cure" for tics, but medications sometimes help a person control them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Eye twitching (nystagmus) is considered normal if gazing in the peripheral (left/right) field for an extended period of time without turning the head!. But it sounds as though your brother's condition has progressed to involve other parts of the face!. Does your brother or anyone in your family have a history of seizures!? Is your brother taking any medications that may cause facial/eye twitching (antidepressants, antipsychotics-i!.e!. lithium, phenobarbital, etc!.)!? Has your brother been exposed to any noxious fumes: paint, gasoline, methanol, etc!.!? I don't want to alarm you, but brain and spinal cord lesions or masses can compress the nerves and make them fire erratically (misfire) or not at all!. I think you wanting to seek medical treatment for your brother is a very wise decision!. 14 is a very crucial age in development and if there is a problem, it's best to have knowledge of it as soon as possible!. Good luck to you and your family!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like a facial twitch which can just happen to someone!. Nothing harming about it unless it causes him to not be able to see for a few secs which could cause problems with driving!. But I would have him go to the doctor!.
Also there are ways that he can be hypnotized(sp) to have the twitch transfered to a less noticable part of the body!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I hope your father follows your advice and takes him to the doctor!. Twitching in the face is the symptom of many different conditions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
