Answers:
I have had that happen many times!. I also discovered that I have a mild case of sleep apnea!. Often people with sleep apnea stop breathing while asleep and wake up feeling like they are having an anxiety attack!. In reality, it is just the body's own arousal system kicking in to make you start breathing again!. Anxiety can contribute to sleep apnea and people with sleep apnea can develop anxiety disorders because of chronic lack of restful sleep!. A sleep study conducted at a hospital is useful to determine if you are experiencing the anxious feeling from sleep apnea!. The anxiety problem can have other contributing factors as well such as digestive disorders, stress and underlying illnesses that make the apnea worse!. If you are having this problem at night a lot, it may be worth a sleepover at a hospital for the study!. They merely hook you up to some monitors and you just go to bed!. By morning, they have a complete readout of your vital signs, heart and brain function!. They can also put you on a Halter Monitor for a week at home to check your oxygen saturation in your blood!. If it tuns out that you have sleep apnea, you can get a C-PAP machine which puts forced air through your nostrils while asleep to prevent the apnea!. Smoking contributes to sleep apnea and that is what has probably cased some of my problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
