Herpes how long can it be dormant?!
Question: Herpes how long can it be dormant!?
Okay yesterday I went to the doctor due to itching and buring during intercourse!. They found no yeast or bacterial infection!. The only thing was a red mark near my episiotomy which I got in 2002!.
My doctor ran a test for herpes which I don't think I have never had any problems like this before and been with the same partner for over 10 years!. My partner and I have been 100% faithfully!.
I do have cold sores which is the other form of herpes and we take precaution during that type of outbreak so my question is how long can it stay dormant if I do have it!? Test results won't be back for a few days!. Also because I have one type of herpes will it show up poitive regardless!.

If your doctor actually swabbed the sore, instead of doing a blood test, then the test will only come back positive if THAT SORE was herpes!. Which is good - becuase then you'll really know what you have!. As you know, oral herpes doesn't travel through your body and magically become genital herpes!. So your site-specific test won't accidentally pick up any misdiagnosis from your oral herpes!.
In other words, if you got a swab, and it comes back positive, then you do indeed have genital herpes!.
How long can it be dormant!? Years and years and years!. Most people who have herpes never ever get an outbreak!.
Since you have HSV1 orally, it is VERY unlikely that you could get HSV1 genitally!. You could get HSV2 genitally (and may have had it for years, it seems), but it is super unlikely that you could have given your HSV1 to your husband and then had him give it back to you genitally!. You have too many antibodies for that virus already!.
Herpes can be a mysterious thing!. Please don't doubt your partner!. This story ("Where did my herpes come from!?") is so much more common than you might think!.

Yes it will show up as simplex 2- another type may or may not show up at all!.Herpes can remain dormant forever--you can be a carrier for life and never have an out break--this is one reason it is spread so much--people simply don't know they have it and are passing it unknowingly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
you know I don't think anyone knows for sure how dormant herpes can be (I've heard up to 10 years) but you'll show up having a herpes symplex 1 with the blood test!. Here's a site that I think you'll find helpful in understanding this herpes virus!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you do have herpes it will show up it dose not matter if its type one or type two but it can stay dormant for a very long time but it is very unusualWww@Answer-Health@Com
