Question: How high can hbac1 levels go!.!.!.also what does the numbers mean!?
mine was at 10!.8 !.!.!.my dr called me and told me this was very high and i need to work on lowering it!.!.10!.8 !.!.!.what does it mean and how high can they go before something critical or fatal happens!.!.!.!.i go back in two weeks and discuss it with him !.!.!.thought i might get some input here!.!.!.any information appreciatedWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah, that's high!. I used to be worse though!.!.!.I was once 13!.9! Now I've been 6!.5 or less for several years, I'm in good shape!. The A1C test measures the amount of hemoglobin that sticks to blood cells when blood glucose is elevated!. The more hemoglobin, the higher your average BG's have been for the last 3 months!. If your A1C was 10!.8, then your average BG was about 300 (target is 100-150), so you need to work with your doc or ideally a diabetes educator to evaluate your meter readings and see where you need to make adjustments!. Ongoing high A1C's above 8 or so will result in early complications such as blindness, kidney disease, heart attack and stroke!. You want to be less than 7, ideally less than 6!.5, but it will be a gradual process, so be patient and get excited whenever it drops 1/2 a point or more!

its testing the hemoglobin part of your blood for glucose!. an A1C is a really good indicator of how well you control your diabetes particullarly over the past 3 mos!. 10!.8 is extremely high and you should figure out a way to change your diet!. Talk to a specialist about your diet!. You usually want your A1c under 7!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mine was 14 and I had a blood sugar readings of over 700!. I was put on oral medications!.!. You won't be on insulin for sure unless you are type 1!. Many doctors treat type 2 with oral medication first!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the normal levels is under 6:!. if the test was done first thing before breakfast !. its the glucose level in your blood which means the blood sugar level when its done with a glucose monitor the normal level is 70-130Www@Answer-Health@Com

you can go very high i have been over 40 befor but i got rushed into hospital and i was very very illWww@Answer-Health@Com
