Question: If someone has Diabetes in the family, what should they NOT do to avoid early onset of the disease!?
Answers:
Diabetes is LARGELY AVOIDABLE - even if it is in your family!

Stay away from:
- SOFT DRINKS (diet or otherwise),
- GRAIN CARBOHYDRATES (wheat, bread, breaded foods, cookies, pizza, wraps, pasta, etc!.) because carbs all turn to sugar and tend to be stored in our body fat!.
- SUGARS in any form - that includes OJ and other fruit juices and fuits - with the exception of a handful of berries now and then, pomegranate, etc!. (apples, bananas are out!) and anything that ends in -ose (sucr-ose, lact-ose, etc!. - since these all are sugars or convert to sugar in the body)!.
- STARCHY vegetables such as carrots (too high in sugar!)
- PROCESSED foods!.

Enjoy:
- plenty of fresh water (incl!. lemon - for internal cleansing)
- green tea, white tea, rooibos tea, etc!. as antioxidants
- free choice greens and vegetables with the occasional berry treat
- light proteins (fish, chicken, turkey, lean beef) no larger than the size of your palm (without fingers!)!.
- eggs - important: make sure they are free of antibiotic feed since the common medicated feed includes aluminum and other toxins!
- olive oil, grapeseed oil (the other oils and fats may oxydize your system too quickly)!.

Snacks - Treats:
almonds (raw, unsalted), olives, belgian endive, lettuce leafs, etc!.

Don't get fat, eat a well balanced diet, excercise daily and don't drink too sugary soft drinks, also drink alot of water!. I have diabetes it runs in my family, i'm 15 and it sucks!. I take 4 shots a day plus my lantus which i take at bedtime!. I wish i could go back and do everything possible to avoid it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't slide into an unhealthy lifestyle!. Don't get overweight or lead an inactive life!. Don't drink alcohol excessively, or drink sugared soda pop at all!. Don't put off annual physical exams that include blood testing for metabolic disorders!. Don't ignore classic symptoms of diabetes like excessive thirst and urination!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do NOT

1!. Overeat!. Weight gain has been linked to development of Type II diabetes
2!. Be Sedentary!. Exercise helps to regulate blood sugar levels

NOT do!?!? They should not follow a healthy diet or exercise daily!. That is if they want to get the disease!. By the way, the answer below that says diabetes can be avoided is totally wrong!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They SHOULD NOT be in denial that they are at high risk for diabetes!. They SHOULD learn about the disease and what they can do now to either prevent it, or delay its onset!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
