hahaha
i think we do it
to make a good HIGH PITCHED NOISE
because when you think about it when you BOO someone its a low pitched noise
and low pitched noises are usually like bad
if your parents reprimand you, their voices get lower
but you see, when you are acknowledging someone in a good way, you want to make a high pitched noise!.
EX: when youre playing with a doggy you're all squeaky
and clapping is a nice high pitched noise that is used for congratulating/acknowledging someone
ETC!.
this is my theoryWww@Answer-Health@Com

Its just a random tradition thats been passed down through the ages!.
The native americans made taht alalalala sound with thier tongues!.
And just about every culture has some way of congradulating a job well done!. I think clapping is the easiest, and it makes the most amount of noise!. plus, everybody can do it!. A simple, universal sign of WOOHOO!!!! YOUR MY HERO!!!
etc, etc, etc!.
Though if you think about it, it is pretty retarded!. Maybe we should start a new tradition!. from now on, when some one says something that you agree with, or says something that everyone else claps for, walk up on stage, and give them a hug!. Then send me the video of u getting hauled away from the presidential debate!. lol

I think back in caveman days we would bang rocks on the ground or against another object when we were excited about something or to signal approval (picture caveman "town hall" type meetings around a fire)!. Over time this would evolve into the slightly less primitive behavior of clapping!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I HAVE WONDERED THE SAME THING
its sort of barbaric, but i suppose it could go back to like early men making noise because they had not formed a languageWww@Answer-Health@Com
