I dont think so, but i know when I get an outbreak it is a real downer!. It reminds me that I have an uncurable STD!. That in its self can be depressing!. How each person deals with it is different!. I dont think there is any medical proof that it causes depression!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
If the person is regretting having sex with the person that gave it to them, then an outbreak would trigger depression!. If they are upset that they will not be able to find anybody else to be with, then yes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
It causes SITUATIONAL depression - the condition of having an active herpes outbreak is not pleasant, but having herpes will not give you clinical depression - that's a brain chemistry disorder - not the same thing as a depression caused by a situation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I wouldn't say that it is an actual "side effect" of herpes, but I could completely understand why it would cause depression!. It could just be the body & mind's response to it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
