No, canker sores are NOT herpes!. There IS a difference between cold sores (herpes HSV1) and canker sores!.
Cold sores are usually confined to the mouth area (particularly on and around the the lip) although they can appear on other facial areas including above the mouth, on the nose, cheek or chin!.
Canker sores are ulcerations and are usually inside the mouth and are from stress, trauma to the mouth or a bacteria!.

What people call "canker" or "cold" sores around the lips or sides of the mouth, are caused by different things!. You and your doctor can't always diagnose this by just looking !. Type-1 Herpes usually causes sores above the belly and in the mouth while Type-2 Herpes is usually below the belly and around the genitals!. A simple smear test of the sore taken from a swab of the sore surface and sent to a lab can diagnose Herpes!. Treatment is effective, though the Herpes virus appears to be a life-long, usually hidden infection which can return at any time in later years!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I do not believe canker soars are the same as cold sores/herpes!. cankers come about from eating too many citric foods, biting your lip/cheek, which can be done in your sleep, esp!. if your jaw is out of line!. if you are having soars develop in your mouth for none of the above reasons you may want to see your doctor!. you could ask your doc for a simple blood test to see if you have the herpes virus in your system!. if you do, don't be ashamed a lot a lot of people have the virus and don't even know that they do and lots more that do know!. there are medications to help keep it at bay as well as staying away from certain foods and keeping your stress level under control!. good luck hope you feel better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
NO they are not, trust me!. their cause is unknown, but often times appear during stressful events!. look it up online if you dont believe me

Yes, but not all herpes are STD Herpes I is just a virus some people have and the get them on there mouth and lips and Herpes II is is the STD!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
