Question: General Herpes!?
My friend just told me she found out she has general herpes!. I don't want to sound stupid, but what are the safe ways to be around her!? We're very close, so we might even drink from the same bottle!. Is it only sexually transmitted!? Can you please give me some examples> ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

First of all I think you mean GENITAL herpes!. Second of all, you need to educate yourself so you won't be ignorant and end up losing your friend because of your ignorance!. If she has genital herpes, unless you're having oral sex with her or other engaging in other sexual activites, you should be ok!. If she has oral herpes, you will more than likely see the cold sore and you'll know not to come in contact with it!. Go to the following link and try to educate yourself!.

As long as you don't have sex with her - no oral sex, no rubbing genitals together - you won't catch her genital herpes!.

And if she just found out she has herpes, she is really going to need your support right now!. If she's newly diagnoses, she probably ashamed and scared and hurt!. Now is the time to be a good friend, tell her that she's still an attractive person, do things with her to distract her from her situation, and just help her get used to her diagnosis!.

Good for you for wanting to be safe AND for wanting to continue to be a good friend to her!.

For more info on herpes, including the difference between oral herpes and genital herpes, I recommend the website below!. And please don't believe everything that you read on Y!A!. Some people really don't know what they are talking about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Herpes can be genital or oral!.!.!. most people that have herpes have both and dont know it because people have oral sex!.!.!.

if she has both it can be transfered by kisses or sharing drinks (because of cold sores that are herpes) but if its genital its only sexually transmitted!.!. please dont think of this person differently, just be a good friend!. what shes going through is very painful and could put someone into deep depression!!!

its great that you're trying to protect yourself!.!. just learn from her mistakes!.!.!. 1 in 5 people in the US have herpes!

good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
