BCG vaccination? Is it really worth it?!
Question: BCG vaccination!? Is it really worth it!?
I'm 17 and I never got my BCG vaccination at school (the school I went to alternated the years it gave BCG's out to)
I'm a bit worried thats all, all my other vaccinations are up to date, it's just the BCG that's not!.
I'm not sure if it's worth it, I read that anyone working in the health professions or exposed to TB should get one, I would like to work in physiotheraphy possibly but I'm not sure yet!.
Is it really worth getting the BCG or should I just leave it!?
If it is worth getting it, how painful is it!? (bear in mind I have a VERY low threshold for pain)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am terrified of needles and it really is nothing to worry about!. What i didn't realise is that this vaccination is optional!?!?
GIven the alternative i would definitely summon the courage!
If you have a phobia for needles then you could maybe approach your doctor!. They may be able to issue you with one so that you can handle - drag across the back of your hand etc, just to get you used to it!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It will be fine the BCG doesn't actually hurt its just that it scars up on some people and can make a small blister but alot of people just get a purple blob then a small scar!.
It is worth it trust me i use to have a tutor who had TB as a child and it made him into a complete cripple!.
Especially with all the immigrants coming into the UK they bring TB with them and if you go to school or collage/university you will mix with alot of people and that is why the chances of getting TB, Mumps, Meningitis e!.c!.t is very high!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A shot in the arm and a few days pain really beats the whole TB thing!.
As nice as it would be to imagine that TB is not a threat, this disease is the cause for well over a million deaths a year!.

You should go get it! u never know when you will be exposed to TB!. you could be visiting a relitive in hospital or anything! I was so terrified i almost passed out, and yet i didnt even feel a thing!. even when they done the skin test!Www@Answer-Health@Com
The injection is nothing to worry about, and the benefits well worth the inconvenience!.
My problems started afterwards when a pit developed and was full of pus for many months, meaning I couldn't swim!.

I think I was about 13 when I had mine + it wasn't painful, I have no problems with needles!.

I would say yes it is worth getting it !. Unfortunately TB which was virtually eradicated at one time is making a bit of a come back !. Very limited at the moment , but better to be safe than sorryWww@Answer-Health@Com

You won't even feel the injection-Look the other way!
I bet you have had piercings done that would be 10 times more painful!.

It's not all that painful at all! You should definately get it done just to be on the safe side! I also missed mine at school and I went to get it done at the doctors which is better really cos its more private!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
its defo worth it!! go to ur dr n get it!. its not really sore jus the muscle feels tight after 4 small bit!. jezz cant beliv ur school did that not very fairWww@Answer-Health@Com
