No, it can't !. however for a provisional time it can show your blood sugar level high!. to know more about diabetes plz visit this site http://diabetes-complications!.blogspot!.c!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What a person eats or doesn't eat has absolutely nothing to do with whether they get diabetes or not!. Current medical thinking is it is a genetic problem for type 2 diabetics and they really have no clue as to what causes the pancreas to die and cause type 1 diabetes!.

So, NO, eating sugar has nothing to do with giving a person diabetes!. It will make the diabetes worse if the person gets this disorder, but won't cause it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The short answer is yes!. The more sugar you intake on a consistent daily basis the more insulin you will need your body to produce which can cause your body to become desensitized to insulin or have difficulty producing its own natural insulin or just plain not be able to keep up with the demand!. Not to mention that generally large intakes of sugar = more calories = more fat which is also sited as another risk factor for diabetes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I hate to disagree with everyone that's answered so far, but you are all wrong!. That is a myth!.

Eating sugar does NOT give you diabetes!

Having said that, sugar that you eat that is not used up leads to obesity which may preclude you to developing diabetes mellitus later on!. There are other things that can pre-determine whether or not you are likely to develop diabetes, such as genetics!. If you have close relatives that are diabetic, there's an increased likelihood that you, too, COULD develop it!. That doesn't mean that you WILL develop it!.

Eat a healthy diet and continue to exercise if you want to lessen the chances of you developing it!.

If you're concerned at all, see a doctor and express your concerns!. S/he may decide to do a simple blood test to determine whether or not you do have diabetes, but only if you convince him/her that you are showing symptoms!.

Best of luck to you!.

Edit:

Apologies, Sue!. I'd started writing my little missive before your name appeared!. (You got a thumbs up, too, seeing as you're the only one that seems to know what they're talking about!. You got a thumbs up, too, nLytnd!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most of the food we eat is converted to sugar (sugar from food is the energy of the body like sunlight is converted to sugar by plants)!. The pancreas regulates tha amount of sugar in your body!. Eating sugar makes the pancreas work hard and fast and can make it 'crash' over time!. Other than sugar, simple carbohydrates like pasta even potatoes make the insulin levels spike fast ie!. work hard!. It's always better to eat complex carbs that takes time to break down like raw veggies and fruits (sound familiar!?) The body wishes to have a steady amount of insulin without major dips or spikes in order to keep the pancreas healthy!.

As proof of the diet being related to the onset of diabetes, researchers point to North American Indians, who, after being influenced by europeans have had a dramatic change in their diets from their traditional diets - now they eat refined sugars and simple carbohydrates that their bodies have not had time to adapt to and as a result, the aboriginal population faces an epidemic of diabetic onset!. Their traditional diets of meats, fish and vegetables is how they lived for thousands of years and that all changed in the last 80 years!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sugar my increase your chances of developing it sooner but it is not known if it does or not cause it!.
Cause

Type 1 diabetes develops because the body's immune system destroys the beta cells which are in the islet tissue in the pancreas Click here to see an illustration!.!. These beta cells produce insulin!. So people with type 1 diabetes cannot make their own insulin!.

You can inherit a tendency to develop type 1 diabetes, but most people who have the disease have no family history of it!. Diabetes experts believe that a genetic tendency and some environmental factors may increase the risk of developing type 1 diabetes!. Possible environmental factors include enteroviral infections
