After a leg is amputated how long does it take it to heel up?!

Question: After a leg is amputated how long does it take it to heel up!?
Answers:
If you have had a leg removed, you may be in a wheel chair for a while!. The odds are good that if there are no medical complications, you will be up by the day after surgery!. The reality of recovery is that the longer and more you stay in bed, the longer it will take to recover and the more debilitated you will be!. Thus, it is vital that you get up and start moving around as soon as possible!.

The length of hospital stay following an amputation varies widely with the type of amputation, the age and general
medical condition of the patient, the medical care setting and other factors!. If good outpatient services are available, you
could be discharged after only a few days!. Your rehabilitation will begin in the hospital, but will extend long beyond your
hospital stay!. This rehabilitation may be undertaken on an outpatient basis with you staying in your own home and going
to the places you must to receive your rehabilitative help or you may go from the hospital to a rehabilitation center where
you will stay until you are able to undertake more of your own careWww@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on the cause of the amputation and the type of amputation!.

First there is the hospital stay!. It can be a few days to weeks!. All depends on the cause of amputation and how you are after!.

Then it can be a month to 6 weeks to heal or longer depending on the amputation and why it is taken off!. If the leg comes off a diabetic or a smoker it may take longer!.

during the healing process there will be some rehab and the stump fitted with a shrinker sock to get it in a good shape!. and once most of it is healed fittings for a prosthetic!.

By two months it will be all healed up and rehab and walking can start!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
