Best time to take glucophage/metformin?!

Question: Best time to take glucophage/metformin!?
Three years ago, I spoke with my doctor about taking metformin for PCOS and insulin resistance!. I was having difficulty losing weight because of these conditions!. The meds worked well to help with weight loss BUT were terrible on my stomach!. I spoke to another doctor about my situation and he said, "Oh, well you should be taking it like this" which was the complete opposite of what the first doctor said!. Regardless, it worked in alleviating the stomach problems!.
However, I asked my current doctor if I could go back on metformin again, but since it's been a couple of years since I was on it, I can NOT remember the recommendations the second doctor gave when it came to taking it!. Did I take it 30 mins before the meal, with the meal, after the meal, etc!. All I remember is that it is was not the typical instructions given with the meds!.
Any help you could give me with this would be great!.!.!.thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most Endocrinologists say to take it with the first bite of food at the meals you are to take it with!. This gives a buffer in the stomach and food in the digestive tract to help the Met work!. It works on the liver to prevent dumping stored glucose into the system!.

Peachy is right in the right foods and exercise help a bunch in controling glucose numbers!. But he is so wrong about the PCOS and some of us who cannot gain any glucose control without meds!. He is so lucky not to have to take the meds!.

Metformin doesn't help me to lose any weight, never has, but I didn't need to lose any weight until I started on the insulin injections either!.

I think the first doctor that put me on Metformin-Glyburide tablets said to take them 30 minutes before eating!. I got a really acidic stomach and a huge amount of gas problems!. When I started taking it in the middle of the meal it was much better!.

Am thinking you should experiment a bit with the timing of the pills!. Each of us is an unique individual and as such, all foods, meds, and exercises work very uniquely and individually for each of us!.

LOL !.!.!. I don't think Mr Peachy is going to grow ovaries anytime soon!.

I don't know a lot about type 2 diabetes, but I am learning!. IMHO maybe you might want to reconsider what Mr Peachy said !.!.!. he's spent a lot of time learning about this stuff!. Mostly about diabetes, but he knows something about PCOS too!. He's even made a website with some of the health information he's found !.!.!. you can find links to it on his profile page!. He's been teaching me a little, it's been really helpful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When I was taking Metformin, it was a half hour before meals!.

Why bother with taking Metformin, though!?

Controlling PCOS and type two diabetes is no more difficult than learning what foods to eat and getting a little exercise!.

You really don't need the side effects!. Plus, you'll have more energy and feel better, in addition to eliminating the symptoms of PCOS, if you would simply get on a natural foods diet and get out and walk a bit!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I take mine any time!. I have no problem with stomach!.!. But if I were you I would take either during the meal or after!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
