I'm sorry to hear about your condition!. But there are several remedy and preventive measures for nausea relief after chemotherapy

Medically speaking the best way to cure nausea is to prevent them but since you have little relief from antiemetics (i assumed), here are several way to cure or reduce nausea after chemotherapy!.

Source: Mayo Clinic:
1!. Eat small meals!. Stagger small meals throughout the day rather than eating fewer, larger meals!. If possible, don't skip meals!. Eating a light meal a few hours before treatment also may help!.

2!. Eat what appeals to you!. It's best, however, to avoid foods that are sweet, fried or fatty!. In addition, cool foods may give off less-bothersome odors!. Cook and freeze meals in advance of treatment to avoid cooking when you're not feeling well!. Or have someone else cook for you!.

3!. Drink lots of fluids!. Try cool beverages such as water, unsweetened fruit juices, tea or ginger ale that's lost its carbonation!. It may help to drink small amounts throughout the day, rather than larger amounts less frequently!. Try to drink about 48 ounces each day!.

4!. Avoid unpleasant smells!. Pay attention to what smells trigger nausea for you!. For some, a specific smell, such as the smell of something frying or a greasy smell may cause nausea!. Other people may experience nausea when smelling any strong odor!. Limit exposure to unpleasant smells!. Fresh air may help!.

5!. Make yourself comfortable!. After eating, rest, but don't lie flat for a couple of hours!. Try wearing loosefitting clothing and keeping yourself distracted!.

6!. Use relaxation techniques!. Examples include meditation and deep breathing!.

Additional holistic and complementary therapies such as Acupuncture, sweet basil tea and hypnosis may help relieve nausea!.

I had chemotherapy last summer for breast cancer!. I would suggest you talk to your oncologist!. There are different medications you can take!. I had a really hard time with naseau!. I was on three different meds!. I still had some naseau, but it wasn't severe and it only lasted a few days each round!. It's hard to recommend something to eat or drink that would help because everyone is different!. Each treatment was different for me too, in what I could stomach to drink or eat!. My very best to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi,
I finished chemo nearly two years ago!. I understand how frustrating the nausea can be!.

What meds have you tried!? I was originally given Compazine, but had a horribly rare and bizarre allergic reaction where I couldn't move my arms or hold up my head!. I called the doc and was told to take two Benadryl!. I was ok within the hour!. Scary, but I learned to be very aware of how I was feeling from my meds, and learned not to be afraid to call my doctor right away!.

I also took Ativan-this is like a cancer wonder-drug! It helps ease anxiety, makes you sleepy, and helps nausea!. These are all things you need when on chemo!

I really don't remember any other at-home meds, but I do know I was given chemo pre-meds in my port before each treatment!. I think this was decided because of my weird compazine issue!.

As for other ways to deal with it!? I ate when I felt up to it, and avoided even thinking of food when I felt nauseated!. I learned very quickly to NOT eat a food I liked in the first few days after chemo, because I will NEVER eat those foods again (a certain restaurant, and a certain coffee shop come to mind!)!.

I stuck with extremely bland foods!. I craved carb-rich food while on chemo, and those were easiest on my stomach!. I think the cravings are Mother Nature's way of giving you a break while on chemo!

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A close friend of mine went through chemo!. She was a smoker (I know - stupid but whatever) and so I introduced her to clove cigarettes!. The clove oil in them helped to calm her stomach!. I don't recommend smoking (unless you already do) but perhaps burning some clove incense may help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is a legal form of the active ingredient -- it only works for some people!. The drug is called "Marinol!."
Others to try include Compazine (perchlorper) and Zofran!.

Try eating a few crackers before you get up!.
Small sips of ginger ale (flat is better -- weird)!.

Take care!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Talk to your oncologist, you may need a different type of medicine!. Be careful to take the meds exactly as prescribed, timing is very important!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ginger tea works great!. You can either buy it in the tea bags or what I preferred was getting the fresh ginger root, shaving some off and making a tea that way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you could always smoke something that's illegal a friend of mine has breast and bone cancer it helps her alot it also increases her appetite!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Talk to your oncologist!. He can help you find ways to help with the nausea!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
