Question: Is it too late to get the Chicken Pox vaccine!.!.!.!.!.!. adult!?
My husband has Shingles and I have never had Chicken Pox!. I've tried to stay away from him, but we do live in the same household and it is inevitable!. I was wondering if it was too late for me to get the vaccine, since I may have already been exposed!. Should I wait and see if I get them first or go ahead and get it!? I could possibly still have an outbreak!. I just don't know what to do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You should get vaccinated!. They do have a Chicken Pox vaccine!. It is called Varicella vaccine after the virus that causes chicken pox!. Chicken pox is usually a mild illness but it can be very dangerous for adults causing problems such as brain swelling, pneumonia and skin infections in some cases! You didn't have chicken pox as a child so you need to get vaccinated as soon as possible!.

Don't wait and see if you get them!. I had chicken pox as a child and they itch and you will feel so uncomfortable!. If you can prevent getting it it is so unnecessary to go through this!. It also goes on like that for several days!.

Maybe you're already infected but that is only possible if you came in contact with your husband's skin or secretions!. In this case your doctor may have some other kind of vaccine or give the chicken pox vaccine that maybe won't prevent the outbreak but will give you a milder form of the disease!. I think it is also possible to give you the chicken pox vaccine before you get the first symptoms!.

I think it's best to just see your doctor and ask him what he can do!. I still feel bad when I think about having chicken pox as a child so I don't wish that to anybody :PWww@Answer-Health@Com

It is only possible to get chickenpox from someone with shingles through direct contact with vesicle fluid of the person with shingles!. I would suggest that you get the vaccine even if you won't be coming in contact with your husbands skin!. Chicken Pox can be very serious for an adult and you have no idea when you will come into contact with someone, who unlike your husband, you have no idea they are contagious!.

Oh! no it is not to late any one over the age of 12 months can get it!. It has been on the market since 1995 and it is two doses, given 4-8 weeks apart);Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think that they have a chicken pox vaccine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
