Congestive heart failure and was I near death?!

Question: Congestive heart failure and was I near death!?
On April 23 I had gone to the dr!. because of feeling run down and exhausted and getting to where I could barely do anything without stopping to rest and catch my breath or I would hyperventilate!. There were times that just walking a few blocks left me feeling weak and gasping for air!. They got me in immediately and did a chest x-ray, a ekg, and checked my blood pressure!. I could barely do the breathing test!. When the doctor came back into the waiting room he said I had to go to the hospital immediately, that he was not comfortable with letting me leave his office!. He also said that my heart was working at just 10% of what it should be and my heart rate was 123 and that my heart was enlarged!. I also had high blood pressure!. I was given a blood thinner at the dr's office!. Fortunately after 6 days in the hospital, most of it in the ICU I am much better and on 9 meds a day!. I have wondered how close I was to a heart attack if I had kept pushing myself and not living much longer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Heart failure is the heart's inability to pump blood efficiently to the lungs and to the rest of the body!. The heart may enlarge itself to compensate for this!. Ejection fraction yours at 10%, EF means how much blood leaves the heart via aorta!. The Drs probably did a blood draw to rule out a heart attack!. Blood thinners(warfarin) to help the blood flow smooothly!. I'm glad you are feeling better!. Stick to that low sodium diet!. The American Heart Association has a forum for those of us that have experienced Heart Failure!. You may cantact me if you wish!. Take care!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

That does depend!. How old are you!?
I was only 18 when I experienced heart failure, after giving birth!. I had very high blood pressure, fluid in lungs, and enlargement of heart- and I came quite close to death!.
You were lucky you caught it before anything happened!. Don't focus on how close you may have been to dying- instead take care of yourself now and you know what to look out for too!. And count your blessing! Someone was definetly looking out for you!Www@Answer-Health@Com
