Question: I have a used flute and I want 2 kill germs!. How would you wash a used flute!?
It is sterlling silver and I know if I use too much bleach it will tarnish it, then I will have to get out the silver cleaner!. As for as the body of the flute and the end part, how would I clean that without weting the pads!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
All you need to do is take a tissue, spray some lysol on it and then wipe that over the head joint (use the handkerchief thing (sprayed w/lysol) and the metal rod to do the inside of the head joint and the tops of the actual keys, it's the safest and most cost effective way to disinfect it!. Keep in mind that germs can only live on hard surfaces like that for MAYBE 24 hours top!. Never use bleach on a musical instrument!!

the best way to keep the inside clean is to buy the little "shove it" thingies that soak up the excess moisture from the pads, it keeps the inside from mildewing!. Also, you should get the keys re-padded once every year or two tops!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Okay, i too have a used flute!. What you need to do is take it in for an acid bath!. Wherever you go, the person will take care of it, making sure not to get the pads wet!. If the pads do get wet though, they will dry out!. My flute is 25 years old, and it has gotten wet and still works!. Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm sorry, I'm not a dermatologist nor an expert to advise you on how to disinfect flute!. But I would wish, after getting all the answers & after disinfecting your flute, please do not infect the atmosphere with distuned play! :-)Www@Answer-Health@Com
