Anyone with Gestational Diabetes??!
Question: Anyone with Gestational Diabetes!?!?
do you know why the OB needs to check the amniotic fluid!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
Hmm !.!.!. I had GD while I was pregnant with my last child!. And there was no mention of them doing that test because of it!.
I just did a quick Google search and the only reference I found said that amniocentesis is sometimes done for type 1 diabetics !.!.!. but not done frequently for gestational diabetes!.
I was actually given the option of having that test before they found out I had GD!. I did some homework and found out the risks of the test outweigh the potential benefits!.
Check out this statistic taken from wikipedia: The risk of amniocentesis-related miscarriage is generally thought to be 1 in 200
And the only thing that test will tell you is if you're child is going to have a serious birth defect!. The test is only for informational purposes, knowing would only help them (and you) prepare for a disabled child and not help them prevent anything!. Or so you can decide to abort your child if you do not wish to have a defective child!. Even our doctor confirmed this information
I would not have aborted my child no matter what, and considering the risks, I refused the test!.
Go to your doctor and ask him/her if the test is really necessary!. If you have a good doctor, and not one that just likes to cover their butt, they will tell you it's not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
