Question: What does 100/palp mean!?
What does it mean when the nurse or doctor says "Your blood pressure is 100/palp" !?
what does palp mean!? Does the 100 still indicate the systolic pressure!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Blood pressure can be measured by auscultatory method (hearing the sounds using stethoscope), palpatory method (feeling the pulse) or oscillatory method (watching the fluctuation of mercury column or needle) during the inflation and deflation of the cuff!. If it is measured using the palpatory method, only systolic pressure can be measured!. That is the point at which the pulse disappears when the BP cuff is inflated and also reappears when it is deflated!. So the 100 indicates the systolic pressure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
