What an interesting question!. As the parent of a child with diabetes (he is now 5 and was diagnosed at 2), I can say that right now he thinks the worst things are the pump site changes!. For me, I think that the worst part is thinking about the fact that he will have to deal with this everyday, all day for the rest of his life unless (knock on wood) they find a cure!.
I don't seem to worry as much about the possibility of losing a limb or eyesight or kidney problems or those things because if a diabetic takes care of themselves, they can lead just as full and happy lives as non-diabetics!.
But the daily care wears on us - wake up, do test, count the carbs in his breakfast while making sure that it is also balanced, give him insulin, test before snack, count carbs, give insulin, test before exercise, test before lunch, count carbs, insulin, test before snack, etc!. Then there is the worrying if he will go low or be high, what if he is alone!?, what if something happens!? we have to change his pump site, will his friend's mom remind him to test, does she know what to do, etc!.
And he is only 5!. It took me a long time to grieve over his health (as I am sure all parents of kids with health problems do)!. Those are the worst things about being diabetic or rather, having someone you love be diabetic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is such a hard question b/c it depends where you are with your diabetes if you are rather a heathly diabetic i assume the worst part is just the constant medications an not being able to eat what everyone else does without thinkin of how it will affext your sugars and such!.!. if you have a somewhat uncontrolable diabetic stance then worst things get worse!.!. u could loose everything from your legs tp your eyes!.
at the moment my worst thing is i realize that i never again can walk in somewhere and just decide i want something i have to break it down and sometimes i cat get it b/c the Bad out weighs the good!.!.!.!. Not to mention Medicine is expensive and my immune system is not exactly up to par so i catch things veryr easily!.!.
