My granny has stage 4 cancer....?!

Question: My granny has stage 4 cancer!.!.!.!.!?
She was diagnosed 5 years ago, she has undergone chemo, and a few other treatments!. She is a strong willed woman who believes in looking at all things positive no matter what!. She won't tell me anything about her condition or give me any updates because she doesn't want me to worry!. When she lost all of her hair I knew she was going through chemo and she did tell me when she stopped after the doctors told her it was doing more harm than good!.

What i do know is when she was diagnosed 5 years ago, she was told she may have 6 months to be with us!. Now 5 years later she is still here!. She drives, goes to church, she still plays bridge with the ladies etc!.

im just so afraid she will just go one day without warning, she doesn't even seem sick! Is this normal, what should I expect!? Will she get really sick before her passing so we at least have a clue!?!?!?

thanks in advance!?!Www@Answer-Health@Com

She may be in a 'remission' state!. It helps that she looks at the positive and keeps active!. She isn't letting the cancer run her life!. She is a cancer survivor, not a cancer victim!. That may be why she doesn't discuss it with you!.

I hate it when doctors tell someone they only have X amount of time left!. There is no one that can predict when a person will leave this world!. Good for her that she didn't believe it!

Some cancer patients don't appear to be ill!. It depends on many factors!. Age, type of cancer, outlook on life, etc!. are all factors!. Being the positive person you say she is, she may not let you or anyone know how she is really feeling!. The last thing my one sister wanted was for the family to act differently toward her!. As I took care of her until she died, she was honest with me, but swore me to secrecy!. Too many times, families mean well, but end up seeing the cancer instead of the loved one!.

Normally, yes, she will get worse and it will show!. She may become tired more easily!. Her appetite may decrease!. She may lose interest in the very things that she loves to do!.

If and when these things happen, I hope that you will treat her with the respect she deserves!. Don't ask how she's feeling!. If she wants to talk about it, she will!. Don't comment negatively on her appearance!. Don't comment on her lack of appetite or interests!. Again, if she wants to talk about those things, she will!.

Until then, enjoy every day you have with her!. Don't let the cancer run your life!. Don't let the fear of losing her run your life!. She isn't!.

Look past the cancer and live, love, and enjoy your grandma!. I'm sure that she would tell you the same!.

Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

probally each person is different my uncle lived with cancer for years but the closer it got he got sicker no one can tell you what god will do & when he will do it just except it now & when the time comes just be strong and del with it meanwhile stop worring about when its going to happen and enjoy her now dont miss today worring about tomorrow do something special for your granny !. god bless you !1Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm glad she is doing well now!. I think you will get a clue that she isn't doing well and see her decline!. It is hard, but be there for each other when that happens!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should suspect that her remaining time on earth is short!. Since she is such a tough old bird and very private maybe the best thing you can do is visit often and just listen to her!. Ask her if you can help her with any errands!. Find out what needs doing that she has not had time to take care of!. If you do this and if you listen closely I am sure she will probably share with you what the Drs have told her!. Even is she doesn't you will have had some quality time together plus have had the chance to observe her condition and watch out for her!. You are very kind!. Keep it up!.
