Your patient would be quarantined and tested for SARS and the Avian Flu, If it is the Avian Flu (also known as H5N1) it is essentially a very dangerous strain of the Influenza virus, it affects people that have been in contact with birds, particularly poultry and is transmitted from the birds to humans by contact, there is very little we can do to stop it except for 2 drugs, I would start your patient on anti-viral drugs such as Tamiflu or Zanamivir!. Both drugs are stock piled in countries but recently Tamiflu has become less efficient as the virus has built up resistance!. There should be severe and acute respiratory symptoms, fever and inflammation, muscle aches and various symptoms!. Most patients die when exposed to this virus!. There is no known fully working treatment and very few experimental vaccines that have proven effective at low dosage!.

For SARS you need to look up the required treatment which is often isolation and treating symptoms!.

The third possibility that would match symptoms is the Epstein-Barr virus, also known as Mononucleosis, then you would need to treat with Anti-Biotics such as Penicillin, Biaxin or Clindamycin, to treat the strep-throat, if the patient gets worse you want to try giving him Cortisol to reduce inflammation, but you need to wait and see how your patient improves, there is very little you can do otherwise!.

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask me,

Hypersensitivity pneumonitis!.

Pneumonitis is inflammation of the lung tissue- in this case due to inhaling the chicken feather dust!. The constant heavy exposure to the proteins in the feather dust has made the worker allergic to them!.
