Question: Can you drink water before a diabetes test!?
My husband thinks he may be low on blood sugar!. He is to be tested in the morning!. They talked to him and not me about what to do before the test!. So he cant remember exactly what they said!. Can he have water between now and then!? Please let me know!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If he is going for simple fasting plasma glucose test
Yes your husband can drink water!.
If he is going for OGTT following are the guidelines for preparation!.
Eat and exercise normally for three days prior to the test!. Be sure to consume sufficient carbohydrates!.
Discontinue medication three days before testing when possible (ask your doctor for a list of drugs to avoid)!.
Take nothing but water for 10 hours before the test!. Avoid smoking before the test!.
Bring reading material or something else to keep you occupied between blood drawings!.

I was told way back when i had the 5 hour glucose tolerance test to only have enough water to take a pill!. He will be drinking plenty of sugar water trust me!. Do not even drink coffee in the morning not even with artificial sweetener and no mints or candy of any kind!.!.!.nothing, nada!Www@Answer-Health@Com
