CHildrens asthma? Anyone else having problems with it?!

Question: CHildrens asthma!? Anyone else having problems with it!?
I know it sounds silly, but i am struggling to come to terms with my 4 years olds asthma!.
He had MAJOR problems with his lungs at birth (they both collapsed and he was in NICU for 3 weeks) so i expected lung problems, but it irritates me that loads of people smoke when pregnant, and have healthy babies, yet i didnt smoke at all, and i have a severly asthmatic child who is in and out of hospital all the time with asthma!
Sorry to go on, but do you have any idea of how i can help my son!.!?!?
Obviously he alreday has steriods as well as his inhalers everyday, but is there anything else i can do!?
I already hoover his matress and bedroom everyday, and dont keep any soft toys/clothes inhis bedroom!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I thought I was the only one that had those feelings!.
I never smoked while pregnant either, yet 2 of my girls have asthma!.
It sounds like you are doing all the right things for your son!.
Get rid of any window blinds you might have!. I got so sick of taking them done and washing them every week!. I finally tossed them out!.
On the up side, he might get a lot better as he gets older!. My girls are older now(12 &18) and even tho they still have problems from time to time, it is a lot better then it used to be!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I assume he is seeing a asthma/allergy specialist!? If not then he should!. Is his asthma triggered by allergies or because his has lung problems since birth!. You need to talk to a specialist to figure out the best way to manage his asthma!. In many cases children grow out of their asthma, but he could have it for life!. He may grow out of it generally speaking and may only need his inhaler if he comes down with a bad cold!. Be proactive when he does start cold symptoms or starts to have ANY audible wheezing!. Stay on top of it!. Never hold off on using his rescue inhaler, breathing problems can get really bad really fast!. There are many support groups for parents who have kids with asthma, try the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (aafa) website!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on what triggers it my son and I both have asthma and different things set us off, I can't be in a house with cigarette smoke yet he can!. Try and avoid candles in the house, I also can't use air fresheners and some set me off and others him!. try and figure out what makes him bad and stay away from it easy said I know but it really is the best way!. also bear in mind some food can set it off as I can't have a hot orange drink without needing my inhaler!. I have never smoked in my life so it is not just that which causes it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
