Which drugs are the most effective for stopping/reversing Asthma?!

Question: Which drugs are the most effective for stopping/reversing Asthma!?
Which drugs are the most effective at not just treating it shortterm, but really helping reverse the symptoms, so you can go about your day not feeling the effects of Asthma!?

Also tell me a bit about how they actually work!.

Also since Asthma can kill, how does it actually kill!? By closing airways 100%!? is that possible!?

won't your body panic and release epineprhine/fight/flight chemicals, and open them up!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Asthma is a chronic condition!.!.!. so there are no meds to cure it!. But, asthma can also be related to age (eg; childhood only!.!.!. outgrown by early adulthood and then adult asthma: no symptoms until adulthood) and then there are just plain asthmatics!.
There are tons of meds!.!.!. most are used in combination!. Some people take oral steroids (like prednisone) some take inhaled steroids (Pulmicort) some take Advair (combo drug with a B2 agonist and steroid) some do mini-neb tx with Albuterol!. the combos are endless and it just depends on how bad your asthma is, what triggers it and what makes it worse!.
Asthma can kill because the airway (trachea) becomes so constricted that it actually closes and the lungs become so irritated that air cannot be exchanged!. The body will go into "fight or flight" mode, but releasing epinephrine does not open the airway!. The cells of the airway need to be relaxed and "uninflammed" to allow proper air exchange!. Wheezing turns in to stridor and becomes very rapid and then the person cannot breathe at all!. This is a very frightening thing, because they know exactly what is going on around them!.

There are lots of drugs that help asthma, but it depends on age, acuity of asthma, and if COPD is also involved!. The drugs work by either 1!. opening up the lungs (Albuterol, Xopenex, etc) and 2!. working to keep the lungs open, but don't open the lungs on their own (Atrovent) (not a fast-acting bronchodilator)

Asthma CAN kill and has claimed many lives!. My friend is about 30 about 5 years ago her dad felt an asthma attack coming on!. His inhaler was low, so he used it up and tried to drive himself to the ER to get help because his airways were so constricted!. He was about 3 blocks from the ER when his airways closed off completely and he died!. It was so sad!.

It seems like your body would release enough epinephine to help you but I think that's kind of what asthma is!.!.!.!.your body's chemicals DON'T release properly so you need drugs to help you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know that my younger brother used pulmicort for a while and he does not have asthma anymore but I think that was more of a he grew out of it thing than the medicine because my mom also uses it and she still has fairly bad asthma - from what I know asthma closes the airways and there is nothing that your body can do - that is why there are medications for asthma - to help open the airways - I have a very mild case of asthma (only caused by exercises and cold/humid air ) and if I don't have an inhaler to help me breathe I focus on deep breathing (the kind where you use your stomach) until the symptoms have passed - but then again I know that there are asthmatics who would die without their inhaler in an attack and in no way, shape, or form would be able to get their breathing back to normal with just focusing on their breathingWww@Answer-Health@Com

well it can kill you if you don't treat the crisis immediately!. try to consult a specialist so that you can take daily medication!. the problem of asma is that, by closing your airways, it doesn't let the air come out of your lungs!. and if your lungs are still filled with air (with CO2) there's no space for the air you try to inhale!. that's why you can't breath and that's why asthma can kill!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
