I just got a physical the other day, but my throat really started to hurt last night!. I have been EXHAUSTED all day and i didnt even do anything active!. my friend had it, and she said name things u feel and she said i might have and that i should get tested!. but i told my mom and she thinks its just a sore throat and doesnt beleive me!. what do i do!!? i dont want to ignore it for too long, you can die from it! It is great that you are monitoring your health and trying to be proactive!. However, you should not jump to conclusions too quickly!. You could have a prognosis of Strep or maybe just stress/sleep deprivation!. It takes a solid two weeks of sore throat for Mono to be considered, because it will not show up in ANY bloodwork or throat swab (both of which are required for diagnosis, and expensive!.!.!.$150+)!. Try to get lots of sleep and see if you can get this thing out of your system!. I hope you feel better soon!Www@Answer-Health@Com
Mono is a virus anyways so even if you do have it, there is nothing a doctor can do about it!. Just get a lot of rest and drink orange juice (really, it'll burn your throat at first but drink it) and get lots of sleep!. Don't do anything too active, don't push your body too hard!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Get a mono spot test!. It's quick, and cheap (if you don't have insurance)!.

if you had a physical the other day, your blood tests would have reflected a viral infection by mono, you don't have mono!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Dd got mono when she was 4!. It started off as a sore throat, but her strep was neg!. A short time later (forgot how many days) she had a rash ALL over!. It was a weird, sandpapery kind of rash!. She was exhausted, etc!. We took her to the dr-scarlet fever was the official diagnosis!. Something didn't fit for me though, so I drew her blood (I work in a lab ) and tested her for mono!. It was as positive as it could be!.
The ped still didn't want to believe me, and was quite put out that I had tested her, b/c after all, didn't he tell me it was highly unlikely a child her age could get mono!?!?!?!? Idiot!. Whew, was he ticked!.
Anyway, I'm sad to say she battled mono (or the fatigue I guess) for literally a year!. She is just now starting to come out of it!. Her main symptoms were extreme exhaustion, plus the sore throat!. There would be days she would just lay in bed for a good part of the morning, get up, eat, lay on the couch, etc!. All I heard was "Mama, I'm so *tired*"!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
