With age comes a reduction of melanin!. The hair turns gray and eventually white!.
When a child gets a few gray or white hairs!.!.!.that is just due to genetics!.!.!.or having a lack of malanin with certain hairs!.
Children don't typically have gray hair because hair NATURALly follows a growth process!.!.!.as seen in the link below =)

Getting grey hair at a young age is possible and usually a result of genetics!. On my father's side of the family, my grandmother, my father and, and my father's siblings (and myself included) all started turning grey sometime in their mid-20's!. It usually starts with a streak of light grey somewhere in the front or on the sides and then it becomes scattered in patches all over!. Fortunately, it seems that most of my folks only lose the color tone of their hair and maintain mostly darker grey with light grey sprinkled around for a long time before they start going pure white!.!.!. which isn't too bad!. However, my grandmother's hair turned white at age 17 and she has been dying it ever since!. I can deal with the dark salt and pepper look!. Its turning white and becoming a Q-Tip that scares me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I don't know about young children, though I'm sure it can happen to them!. I was about 14 when I got my first one and ten years on they are coming fast!. It can happen to alot of people in their teens!. I really hated it at first, but now once my roots come through I don't take to so bad!. It can look pretty cool sometimes when it's one line, but I tink that's because I have white not grey hair!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Because they are not old!.!.!. But some kids have been known to have the odd grey hair!. My daughter's friend who is seventeen had a grey hair!. She plucked it out and kept it!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
