Question: Is this sexual abuse!?!?
So I have a male friend who has a really bad relationship with his mother!. He told me that when he was younger, between 10 and 12 yrs old (he's 24 now) his mother used to ask him everyday to show her his penis!. He said she would do it in a playful manner, because she "just wanted to see how big it was"!. He said he always laughed it off, but he said it really bothered him!. Even though nothing actually happened, could this be considered some kind of sexual abuse!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. It might not be physical, but it is definitely mental!. If it affected him, or still does, then I think it definitely qualifies, especially if it is affecting him in other areas besides his relationship with his mother!. Depending on how long ago this occurred, I'm not sure he can pursue criminal charges, but he should definitely at least consider seeing a therapist, especially if it is causing him problems!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
technically speaking, it is a form of sexual abuse!.!.!.it is in no way, shape, or form normal for a mother to ask that of her son, no matter what manner she does it in!.
even though nothing physical ever happened between the two of them, there is most likely some type of emotional and psychological harm resulting from her actions!.
if he is looking to persue legal actions against her, there are statutes of limitation on sexual crimes!. He most likely will not be able to hold her legally responsible since it happened so long ago!.
on the other hand, if he is looking for psychiatric help, it's never too late!.!.!. even though I do not know the specifics in his case, I would have to guess that there are some issues that he should work through in therapy sessions!. Even if he does not think of himself as having "problems" resulting from the abuse, after some therapy, he may be surprised at progress being made (i!.e!. better relationships, less anxiety or stress)!.

Yes whichever way you look at it, it was abuse!. Extremely disturbing and I feel for your friend!. I was abused by a family member when I was the same age and it can be quite traumatic even years after ward!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
