I have taken Famvir every day, but stopped eventually!. I just felt uncomfortable taking a drug every single day!. But even without the antivirals, I was getting very few outbreaks!. I was taking them mostly to help protect my husband from herpes!. When he explained that he didn't care, I stopped taking them!.
And I believe that rtobor is correct!. All three antivirals contain the same basic, active ingredient!. The big differences between the three drugs are how often you need to take them, and how much they cost!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have Zovirax (acyclovir tabs) twice a day!. 500mg each tab!. If I go off them for a reasonable time, I get an attack, then I take five of them a day over five days!. They seem to give me some sort of metally taste in my mouth and I find I do sometimes just have to have a break from them every now and then!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Your medication which ever one you take is best if you take it at the same time every day!. If you move the times around, just like a birth control pil, the medication becomes unstable and outbreaks are possible!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
No I take Zovirax (acyclovir), but from the way my doctor explained it, the only difference between the two is the way that your body processes the drug!. So you only take Valtrex (valacyclovir) once a day or Zovirax twice a day!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
