hi you
that is the side affects of metformin i know there or other med as well so go to your doctor tell him/her and your doctor may cut them and add one of the others or put you on other med all togetherWww@Answer-Health@Com

Metformin is used alone or with other medications, including insulin, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood) !. Metformin helps to control the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood!. It decreases the amount of glucose you absorb from your food and the amount of glucose made by your liver!. Metformin also increases your body's response to insulin, a natural substance that controls the amount of glucose in the blood!. Metformin is not used to treat type 1 diabetes (condition in which the body does not produce insulin and therefore cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My Dad is on Metformin 850mg and experiences these symptoms!.He does not have them all the time, just intermittently!.Our GP said it was a side effect, but did not change the medication!.
The British Medical Association Guide states that gastrointestinal symptoms are often helped by taking the drug with food!.
Hope you feel better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My partner takes it and has no side affects - I am going for the glucose tolerance test tomorrow I will know then if I need Metformin or not - do you know metformin is also used as a fertility drug for woman that are not producing enough eggs!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I take Metformin (3x850mg a day)!. I don't think it gives me any problems except for low blood sugar occasionally!. Really let your specialist know about the diarrhea!. That can be very serious and hurt your health too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I haven't had sickness with it but I would get a second opinion!. I've read similar things in diabetes forums!. If their doc's don't listen to them, they get a new one!. Good luck ~mWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, have you told your doctor about the side effects!. If not you need to tell him/her because they can change it to another medication!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
