First thing, don't feel intimidated by the task!.This is something you must learn to do!.Believe me when I tell you that the digital ones are over rated!.Buy a good stethoscope!.Don't be afraid to invest in a instrument that will help you in your career!.Take your time and relax while putting on the cuff!.Make sure that it is on properly and that your stethoscope is in the proper place before you begin!.If you miss it the first time or are unsure whether or not you heard the beat, don't be afraid to do it again!.If there is too much noise around you, don't be afraid to ask the people around you th please quite down!.It is better to take a little time and get it right, than to rush through it and get it wrong!.If your program is like mine was then you can't advance to your clinical until you know how to take an accurate BP!.It will get easier with time!.Also, despite what the text books consider a normal blood pressure, every person is different !.Normal for one person may be abnormal for someone else!.Don't doubt what you hear based on what is supposed to be normal!.You can do it!Much success to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The main thing is to have a good stethescope that fits your ears well so you can hear!. Put the cuff on the patient, pump it up to around 160!. If you hear a thump then pump it up a little more!. Slowly open the valve and listen closely!. The first sound that you hear is the systolic pressure and the last time you can hear it at all is the diastolic!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
