I've heard that many, if not most, drugs (legal or otherwise) sap the body of essential nutrients!.!.!. including, and especially, potassium!. Since increasing my daily potassium levels to over 2,000mg/day (with bananas, apricots, and tomato juice), I no longer need any drugs at all to manage my type two diabetes!. This is not something you're likely to hear from doctors or big pharmaceutical companies!. (I'll let you figure out why)!. It's usually diuretics that depletes your body of potassium!.
Diuretics makes you urinate more or get rid of water including your potassium!. These are used some conditions like hypertension or congestive heart failure to lower the BP!.

Some diuretics are your Furosemide (lasix), and your Diuril!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Metformin,(dr told me this)
diuretics
some laxatives
theophylline
steroids and corticosteroids
antacids like Tums and Rolaids and!.!.!.!.

sodium bicarbonate is given to patients with high potassium to lower it , if thats what you mean! =)Www@Answer-Health@Com
