Answers:
No, it cannot turn into type 2!.

The number in the type - 1 or 2 - does not refer to the location (oral or genital) but to the virus!. So hsv-1 and hsv-2 are completely different herpes viruses!.

So if someone has type 1 on their mouth, and gives you oral sex, you would get genital herpes type 1 not type 2!. I have genital herpes type 1 which I caught through oral sex!.

Type 1 does not often reoccur in the genital area, and usually causes a mild genital infection!. I have had quite a few outbreaks, but my sister didn't have one for six years after her primary outbreak (she also has genital hsv-1)!.

I take valtrex if I feel warning signs I might be getting an outbreak, simply because I din't want the inconvenience of an outbreak, but my outbreaks since the first have been very mild - no worse than having a spot!.

If you have intercourse when you have a sore, you can infect your partner, even if you use a condom, so it isn't recommended!.

Having said that, genital hsv-1 is a lot less easy to spread than type 2, partly because it is infectious on average about 3% of the time rather than 15% of the time like hsv-2, and partly because 6-8 out of 10 partners you will ever have already has hsv-1 on the mouth - and if they do, that makes it extremely difficult for them to catch hsv-1 genitally, as they have antibodies to the virus!. My boyfriend has oral hsv-1, and we have unprotected sex!. Though it isn't advised, we have had intercourse (unprotected) while I have been having an outbreak - in fact we have several times and continued to have intercourse through most of my primary outbreak until I was diagnosed - and he hasn't caught it!. He has had hsv-1 on the mouth since he was 5 though!.

HSV1 causes genital herpes and HSV2 causes cold sores!. (less common)!. HSV-1, the virus responsible for common cold sores, can be transmitted through fluids from the mouth!. It is responsible for some cases of genital herpes cases!. HSV can spread from the mouth to the genitals during oral sex!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Type I does not turn into Type II!. They are different viruses!. But you can have Type I on your genital area if you received oral sex from someone who has Type I!. And you can even have Type II on your mouth!. For type I they sell all types of medicine at the store!. For type II outbreak, go to doctor!. Type II is an STD!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

How does your doc suppose you have HSV type 1 if you truthfully havn't had intercourse or oral sex!? Make him test for it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Type 2 is a different but closely related virus!. One doesn't change into the other!.

It's true that most people get HSV 1 infections at some stage in their lives!. Most commonly they occur around the mouth causing cold sores, but you can also get your HSV 1 infection around the genitals, in which case it will cause genital herpes!.

Most cold sores are caused by type 1, but some are caused by type 2!. These days, about half of genital herpes infections are type 1, and about half type 2!.

If you have intercourse when you have a genital herpes infection of either type, the other person can also get a genital infection with that type if they haven't already got that type!.

There are several prescription medicines that can help suppress herpes infections (both type 1 and type 2), including valaciclovir (Valtrex) and aciclovir (Zovirax)!. These don't cure the infection, though!. Most people don't need these medicines unless the attacks are severe or frequent!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
