Usually blisters do not cause serious illness!. However, if a blister gets infected, the infection can spread deeper into the soft tissues and possibly into the blood!. Potential life-threatening infections include sepsis and necrotizing fasciiitis (so called "flesh eating bacteria")!.
Sepsis describes a range of symptoms that occur with widespread infection!. These include fever, high white blood cell count, rapid heart rate and breathing rate, and low blood pressure!. Sepsis can lead to organ dysfunction, including kidney failure and breathing difficulty!. Proper treatment includes prompt antibiotics and supportive care, often in the ICU!.
Necrotizing fasciitis can be caused by several bacteria, including methicillin-resistant staph aureus (MRSA)!. These bacteria may release toxins that cause low blood pressure and sepsis-like symptoms!. A rash may be present!.
Sometimes blisters may be symptoms of a more serious underlying disease!. These are less common, but can occur as allergic reactions, due to infections, with certain skin disorders, and more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some boils are caused by a super bug known as Community-Associated Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, or CA-MRSA!. Bactrim or other sulfa drugs must be prescribed relatively soon after such a boil has started to form!. MRSA tends to increase the speed of growth of the infection!. The infection may cause sepsis!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
it won't have been a blister - it will have been a bed sore (they look like blisters) they can become infected and are much larger on the inside than they look on the out!.

The blister itself won't kill you, but the only thing I could think of is if the blister made a weak spot in her skin for a germ to find its way in and cause an infection!.
