Question: Why are the doctors refusing to give me a blood test!?
I went 2 the doctor and he said that he won't give me a fasting blood sugar test cuz it will make me tiard so he is doing every other test in the world for my kidney when in fact it is my liver that has a problem!. my mom, grandma and great-grandma have diebetes and I have all of the symptoms for it, and every day my symptoms just keep getting worse and worse!.I am really angery cuz I need that blood test and they won't give it to me!. what should i do!? I can take the tiardness cuz i allways get sugar crashes!. what are the doctors so scared of!? I am 13 years old so we are talking about type 1 diebetes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

At 13 and with a history of diabetes in your family you parents should be insisting that your given the test!. It is normal to be tested for other things also, but they should be able to take the blood for a fasting A1c while they are taking the blood for other tests!. Your actually talking about type 2 diabetes!. Most type 1 is diagnosed earlier that 13 years old!. Thalk to your parents, get their support and let them kick the doctors butt!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
if all these people in your family have diabeties then why dont you do fasting blood tests at home!? for a few days test your blood sugar two hours after meals and write down your results!. if your numbers are bad then go back to the doctor!.

I would get a second opinion from another doctor and see what he says!. otherwise try to relax, you don't know for sure that you have diabetes!. worrying over what you don't know never does anyone any good!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Are you already diagnosed with DM-1!? Your doctor shloudn't refuse one if you simply ask for one and explain why a blood test will make you feel better!. However, if you are already diagnosed with DM-1, then a blood test will not show too much info that is important other than creatinine (kidneys) and HgA1C (prob more important for DM 2 and not for diagnosis)!. Fasting blood sugar is easily determined with a fingerstick test too!. If your doctor feels that you will be tired, then perhaps he is already aware of your baseline glucose levels and is afraid to induce a diabetic complication by requiring you to fast!. Eitherway, fasting blood tests are not the only way to properly diagnose DM!.
On another note, your DM, if type 1, is not necessarily linked to your family!. Type 2 is more likely to be inherited and DM is assoicated with the pancreas not liver!. But the most important thing with all diabetes is the problems it causes in other organs especially the kidneys so your doc is doing the rigt thing by keeping track of your kidneys and stuff like that!. Also type 2 is now happening in kids too!.
What symptoms are you having!? Why do you feel you need a blood test!? If there is something else you want to see in that test besides your sugar levels, it may not be there unless your Dr ordered it!. DM is a frustrating illness and it requires a lot of cooperation between you and your doctor!. Explain to him why you are upset and what your wishes are and he will be able to treat you better in the future and you'll be happier having better communication with you Dr!. The problem with this is that you're only 13 years old and at that age your body is going through a lot of changes and your doctor is probably taking this into account without sounding too patronising!
I show all the symptoms for diabetes as well but I'm not diabetic but the symptoms overlap with a few other health problems so there are other factors to look at and if your doctor says you don't need that test then you don't need it!.
Trust your doctor and if your parents and family are happy with how he is going about his job then you shouldn't be worrying because if there was a problem they would've complained before now I'm sure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
