Just a FYI - A pap smear is a specific test looking for abnormal cervical cells!. It does not test for any STDs!.

However, when you go in for your gyn exam (that includes a pap smear), you can ask the doctor to test for STDs!. They will take a swab of vaginal secretions to test!.

I just want to clear up the misunderstanding that pap smears also include STD checks - it seems like a lot of posters on here think because their pap smear was normal, that they do not have a STD, which may or may not be the case!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When you go get a pap smear, you would have to request for a chlamydia and gonorrhea test as those are seperate tests that may also require a urine test!. However, they will do a automatic check for HPV to make sure you don't have any HPV viruses as that is included in the pap smear/pelvic examination!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes when u get a pap smear they check for pretty much everything, exept hiv tht is a blood test!. so if u got a pap done and it was negitive you are in the clear!. but you need to really watch yourself out there! you may be lucky this time but next time maybe no so much!. take care of ur body hun its our life!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. Absolutely!. They check for those things and you can request that your doctor check for other things!. He/she will have to draw blood for some other tests, but it's worth it for the peace of mindWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes you can!. While they are doing the pap, they take a culture sample while the speculum is inside you and they test the sample!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
