HELP!!! Safety of rotisserie chickens under heat lamps?!

Question: HELP!!! Safety of rotisserie chickens under heat lamps!?
I bought a rotisserie chicken yesterday at Walmart!. I failed to look at the time it was cooked until I got home around 6 p!.m!. I bought it at 5:35 p!.m!., but it had been sitting under the heat lamps since 1 p!.m!.! With my germ phobias, I was afraid to eat it and put it in the refrigerator!. I have heard that they should NOT be under the heat lamps for more than 4 hours!. Do you think the chicken is safe to eat!? Or should I use it for expensive dog and cat food!? Or return it to Walmart!? Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I often buy them as well, and think the same thing, and here is how my though process allows me to consume them (and they are absolutley delicious!) As strict as they are anymore with how long something can be left out, exposed to the floating bacteria and germs, they are left under a heated element (which has to be kept at a certian tempature to control the bacteria growth)!. I always try to get them less than an hour out of the rotesserire!.!.!.At this point, I would not eat it myself!. It is probably safe to eat, but I don't take my chances anymore!. Who is to say in the 4 hours BEFORE you got it, someone picked it up out of the heated area and walked it around the store and then decided they DIDN'T want it and left it sit on a non-heated shelf until someone noticed it put it back!?!? eww gross! I would scrap it to the cat and dog!.!.!.just to be safe!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Since it was kept warmed up, then I don't think you have anything to worry about!.

I've eaten dozens of those things (although I generally get them from a regular grocery store instead of walmart), and never had one make me sick!.

Although I am pretty darn germ resistant!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just heat it to 170 degrees internal temperature in the oven!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
