Answers:
"hep c is transferable through direct contact of any mucous membrane (eyes, mouth)"

Wrong!.!.!.

It's only transferable through blood to blood contact!. Don't share razors, toothbrushes or anything that can transfer blood from one person to another!.

Hepatitis B is not the same as C - B however can be transfered through bodily fluids other than blood, C does not!.

The treatment is way expensive, so until he gets medical insurance, you may want to wait!.!.!.Unless you can get on the financial help program with companies that provide Interferon/Ribivirin!.

In the mean time - limit tylenol usage (use ibuprophen), no alcohol or drugs (this will speed liver problems) Try moving to a more vegetarian diet, but include chicken and fish!. Beef has a lot of iron which can be tough on your liver!. Otherwise I wouldn't change too much!. Of course you do want to limit fatty fried foods and processed meat like cold cuts and hot dogs!.

Lots of water!.!.!.will help!. Indian food is good for the liver espeically curries!. The cilantro in salsa is also good!.

I wouldn't worry about it too much!. Just make an effort to get medical insurance and see if you can get the treatment!. It worked for me!Www@Answer-Health@Com

hep c is transferable through direct contact of any mucous membrane (eyes, mouth) or open would to your patient's blood!.!.!.
this is from wikipedia!.!.!.
Occupational exposure to blood

Medical and dental personnel, first responders (e!.g!., firefighters, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, law enforcement officers), and military combat personnel can be exposed to HCV through accidental exposure to blood through accidental needlesticks or blood spatter to the eyes or open wounds!. Universal precautions to protect against such accidental exposures significantly reduce the risk of exposure to HCV!.

the patient should stop drinking to prevent further damage to his liver, also you should advice the patient not to take over the counter medications especially tylenol without any physician's order because these medications can increase the damage to the liver!.

The following guidelines will prevent infection with the hepatitis C virus, which is spread by blood:

* Avoid sharing drug needles or any other drug paraphernalia including works for injection or bills or straws
* Avoid unsanitary tattoo methods
* Avoid unsanitary body piercing methods and acupuncture
* Avoid needlestick injury
* Avoid sharing personal items such as toothbrushes, razors, and nail clippers!.
* Use latex condoms correctly and every time you have sex if not in a long-term monogamous relationship[38]

Proponents of harm reduction believe that strategies such as the provision of new needles and syringes, and education about safer drug injection procedures, greatly decreases the risk of hepatitis C spreading between injecting drug users!.

No vaccine protects against contracting hepatitis C, or helps to treat it!. Vaccines are under development and some have shown encouraging resultsWww@Answer-Health@Com

It is important not to drink!. A healthy balanced diet is fine!.
There are effective treatments available that are not routinely given unless there is evidence of significant ongoing liver damage!. Depending on his liver function it is possible that he requires no active medical intervention at the present time!. If it worsens in the future he may require ultrasonography, liver biopsy and several months of medical therapy as well as periodic blood tests!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
