Asked in general health and got no answers..sorry?!

Question: Asked in general health and got no answers!.!.sorry!?
I had the worst coughing fit of my life last night!. It lasted from 5pm until about 1am until I finally went to the hospital because I literally could barely breathe!. At first I was coughing up clear liquid, but after a while it turned into a dry cough!. No one at the hospital seemed to listen to what I was saying, and said I had a cold!. They gave me some antibiotics and a cough suppressant!. Well, after a few hours they didn't help my cough so I took some nyquil to fall asleep!. I slept for 2 hours before I woke up coughing again!. This morning when I got out of the shower I noticed I have what looks like new stretch marks all over my abdomen and chest!. I have some stretch marks already but they are faded and old!. These ones are bright red and were not there before!. Were they caused by the coughing!? I know I didn't gain enough weight overnight to COVER my entire abdomen with stretch marks, so if not the coughing, what would have caused them!? If so why would coughing cause stretch marks!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Because of the violence of your coughing, the superficial connective tissue was episodically place under extreme tension, and parted!. As with any injury, blood flow to that area increases in order the bring reparative nutrients and other cells to the area!. I have seen many patients with severe coughing in my career (30+ years) What usually happens is that the initial infection (probably a virus) or initial source of irritation (like inhaling a noxious gas) starts the cough!.!.Then the coughing further irritates and damages the lining of the trachea and bronchi!. It becomes a vicious circle!.

Your doctor prescribed the antibiotic as a precaution!. Take it!. The lining of your trachea and bronchi are damaged, as I said, and are now more susceptible to infection!. Tussionex, as one poster suggested, is a VERY GOOD cough medicine!. In many cases, this will be sufficient!. In severe cases, where the bronchi are so irritated that they spasm and cause secondary asthma, an inhaler like Albuterol or Alupent will be required,!. PLUS an inhaled steroid like Fluticasone or Advair will be needed to help soothe the irritated tissues and allow them to heal!. If the coughing persists, then see your doctor for a prescription!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If the coughing is so bad it's interrupting your sleep, suggest to a doctor that he prescribe Tussionex or something similar!. I had a similar problem about a year ago, and that was the only thing that helped!. One of the active ingredients is Vicodin/hydrocodone, and it acts almost immediately!. In my case, no one really was able to diagnose exactly what was wrong in the first place, but when the coughing stopped, my body was given the rest to heal on its own!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
